GLASS HOLOSCOPES
GALLERY IV
Hand Engravings
Each of the holoscopes in this gallery are hand engraved on one specific front
surface mirror in a strategic location in each holoscope so that light will enter
through the engraving and be illuminated. I use a carbide tip pencil to remove
micro bits of mirror from the smooth surface. The subject slowly emerges
when the clear glass is exposed in a fine detail shading technique similar to
scratchboard. The color comes from the art glass that is laid over the en-
graving along with the rest of the art glass that covers the holoscope.
